Eligibility

The program at White Bear Lake Area High School is open to all students and to athletes of all skill-levels. Zero experience required! Any athlete wishing to participate must enrolled in the district and be in either 9th, 10th, 11th or 12th grade.

Spring League

Ultimate's primary season is spring. The spring season lasts from March through May, involves league play and tournament play and ends with the state tournament in early June. In the spring at White Bear Lake, we have both boy's and girl's teams. This league is a more traditional 7 v 7 play.

PRACTICE TIMES & LOCATION

The program hosts occasional throwing sessions and entirely optional indoor practices/sessions in the winter months. Tryouts generally occur in early March. Once teams are determined, practices take place at North Campus High School, Monday through Thursday 4:30-6:30 pm.

TEAMS

We have three spring league teams: Girl's Varsity, Boy's Varsity and Boy's JV. Boy's Varsity and JV are determined via tryout based on skill level and overall athleticism. We pride ourselves in growing the sport and finding playing opportunities for all interested athletes.

GAMES & TOURNAMENTS

WBL Ultimate participates in the Minnesota Ultimate High School League. Games generally start in early April. Girls play on Tuesdays, Boys on Thursdays. Games are either at our home fields (North Campus High School) or hosted by another high school program in the metro. Games start at 6:00pm, players are typically asked to be there before that to ensure a proper warmup.

Each team will attend various weekend tournaments throughout the year. We even host our own, the Matoska Classic, as a fundraiser and to generate more playing opportunities. Each team also participates in the Minnesota Ultimate State Tournament at the end of the season.

Fall League

Minnesota Ultimate also puts on a Fall League for teams to play in. Though the fall league is significantly smaller, it is no less competitive or fun. The fall season lasts from August through early November and involves league play but no tournaments. White Bear Lake's Fall League team is a mixed team (boys and girls). Mixed games are played 6 v 6 with each team fielding 3 boys and 3 girls at a time.

PRACTICE TIMES & LOCATIONS

Practices will typically start a few weeks before school starts. Though practices vary year to year, they are generally twice a week (Tuesdays and Thursdays) from 4:30-6:30 pm. All practices take place at North Campus High School.

TEAMS

We have one fall league team: Mixed Varsity. There is no tryout for fall league. We pride ourselves in growing the sport and finding playing opportunities for all interested athletes.

GAMES & TOURNAMENTS

WBL Ultimate participates in the Minnesota Ultimate High School Fall League. Games generally start in late August. Games are on Saturday mornings at the West Minnehaha Recreation Center in St. Paul. Unlike spring, there are no tournaments for fall.
